Dr. Julie S. Lyon is an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist and Career Architect in Talent Development at LinkedIn. Previously, she spent 8 years in Google’s People Operations function in a variety of roles — Principal Job Architect, Chief of Staff for the Organizational Development team, and Learning Evaluation Program Manager. Prior to her career in tech, Dr. Lyon was a tenured Associate Professor of Business and Director of Undergraduate Research at Roanoke College. Dr. Lyon has wide interests and experiences, spanning organizational climate and culture, reducing adverse impact in selection, women and leadership, remote leadership, virtual teams, scholarship of teaching and learning, and reducing patient harm. She’s published in top journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology and Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, but her true passion is teaching and mentoring students. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park and her B.A. in Psychology from NC State University. She teaches the online PSYC 565 Organizational Psychology course for MAPP from her home in Wilmington, NC.
